Manuscript Secretary's and financial records. Secretary's bound record book (containing material 1849-1857) includes minutes of committee meetings (1849-1850), correspondence (1850; including responses from invited guests), list of subcommittees, list of nominations for orator, contract with John Wright to provide dinner for the occasion, and records and communications from committees in towns involved in Union Celebration. Secretary Wheildon used record volume as scrapbook, adding ephemera (tickets, broadside, handbill, and clippings, 1850-1857) relating to celebration. (Cont.) Financial records (1849-1850) include lists of subscribers to defray cost of celebration (1850), bills and receipts (1849-1850), and Treasurer's account book and summary statement (1850).
